Ingredients
- 3 cups masa harina
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 12 dried corn husks
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix masa harina and beef broth to form a smooth dough. Set aside.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic. Add cumin, paprika, chili powder, and salt. Cook until the beef is fully cooked and the flavors are well combined.
- Soak the corn husks in warm water for 30 minutes to soften.
- Spread a thin layer of masa dough on the center of each corn husk.
- Spoon a portion of the beef mixture onto the masa dough.
- Wrap the corn husk around the filling and fold the ends to enclose the tamale.
- Place the tamales in a steamer and steam for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the masa is firm.
- Let the tamales cool for a few minutes before serving.
