Chana Dal Instant Pot

Ingredients
- 1 cup chana dal
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the chana dal under running water and drain.
- Place the Instant Pot on sauté mode and heat oil. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add the chopped onion, ginger, garlic, and green chili. Sauté until the onions are soft.
- Stir in the tomatoes and spices. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add the drained chana dal, water, and vegetable broth. Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 15 minutes.
- Let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then carefully release any remaining pressure.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.
