Chao Dou Fu, also known as Stuffed Tofu Puffs, is a popular dish in Guangxi Cuisine. It features tofu puffs stuffed with a flavorful mixture and then cooked to perfection.

Chao Dou Fu (stuffed Tofu Puffs)

Ingredients

  • 8 tofu puffs
  • 200g ground pork
  • 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu puffs by cutting a slit in the side of each puff to create a pocket for the stuffing.
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground pork, chopped mushrooms, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper.
  3. Stuff each tofu puff with the pork mixture, pressing gently to fill the pocket.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and place the stuffed tofu puffs in the pan.
  5. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until the tofu puffs are golden brown and the pork mixture is cooked through.
  6. Season with salt to taste and serve hot.
