Ingredients

  • 1 whole goose, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup rice wine
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 4 slices ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, ginger, garlic, star anise, cinnamon stick, and five-spice powder.
  2. Add the goose pieces to the pot and marinate for 1 hour.
  3. Add water to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours, or until the goose is tender.
  4. Remove the goose from the pot and let it cool. Slice and serve.
