Chapli Kebab (afghan Lamb Kebabs)
Chapli Kebab, also known as Afghan Lamb Kebabs, are a popular Pashtun dish known for their rich flavors and aromatic spices. These kebabs are traditionally made with ground lamb or beef, and are packed with a delicious blend of herbs and spices.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, onion, tomatoes, cilantro, mint, green chilies, coriander, cumin, red chili powder, turmeric, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into flat, round kebabs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the kebabs in the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the kebabs from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the Chapli Kebabs hot with naan bread, yogurt sauce, and a side of salad.
