Chatpata Tamatar Curry, also known as Tangy Tomato Curry, is a popular dish in Saraiki Cuisine. This flavorful and tangy curry is made with ripe tomatoes and a blend of aromatic spices, perfect for serving with rice or bread.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until tomatoes are soft and oil separates.
- Add garam masala and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot with rice or bread.
