Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita bread or flatbreads
- Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions for serving
- Tahini or garlic sauce for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced chicken thighs and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for best results.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
- Warm the pita bread or flatbreads in the skillet or oven. Place the cooked chicken on the bread, and top with sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions. Drizzle with tahini or garlic sauce.
- Roll up the bread to form a wrap, and serve the Chawarma Djej immediately.
