Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 500g flour
- 200g butter, chilled and diced
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup cold water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, onions, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper to make the meat filling.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour and chilled diced butter. Use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add the beaten egg and cold water to the flour mixture, and knead until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll each portion into a circle on a floured surface.
- Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle, then fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape. Press the edges to seal.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the empanadas until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels before serving.
