Chechen-style Meat Skewers (Хьаламаш)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef, cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the beef, onion, garlic, paprika, cumin, black pepper, salt, and olive oil. Mix well to coat the beef evenly. Marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Thread the marinated beef onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  3. Heat a grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the skewers for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the meat is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  4. Remove the skewers from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
