Хьаламаш (Chechen-style Pita Bread) is a traditional bread from Chechen cuisine that is perfect for wrapping around grilled meats, dipping into sauces, or enjoying on its own.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup warm water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together.
- Add the olive oil and warm water to the flour mixture.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape them into balls.
- On a floured surface, roll out each ball of dough into a 6-inch circle.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Cook each circle of dough for 2-3 minutes on each side until puffed and golden brown.
- Remove from the skillet and cover with a clean kitchen towel to keep warm.
