Cheese and Potato Bake (Zapekané zemiaky s syrom)

Ingredients

  • 6 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups grated cheese (such as Gouda or Edam)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle half of the grated cheese and half of the minced garlic over the potatoes.
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cheese, and garlic.
  6. Pour the heavy cream over the top of the casserole.
  7. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
