Cheese Bread (georgian Khachapuri)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each part into a circle.
  6. Mix the mozzarella and feta cheese together. Place the cheese mixture in the center of each dough circle.
  7. Fold the edges of the dough over the cheese to create a boat shape, leaving the cheese exposed in the center.
  8. Brush the edges of the dough with beaten egg and bake for 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and brush the melted butter over the crust.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy!
