Ingredients

  • 1 liter whole milk
  • 200g paneer (Indian cottage cheese)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • A pinch of saffron strands
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Ghee for frying

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, boil the milk and reduce it to half, stirring occasionally.
  2. Crumble the paneer and knead it with all-purpose flour to form a smooth dough. Divide the dough into small equal-sized balls and flatten them slightly to form dumplings.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the paneer dumplings until golden brown. Drain and set aside.
  4. Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron to the reduced milk. Stir well and simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Gently drop the fried paneer dumplings into the sweetened milk and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let it cool. Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
