Cheese Fritters, also known as Almojábanas, are a delicious and popular dish in Valencian cuisine. These crispy on the outside, soft on the inside fritters are perfect for breakfast, snack, or as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of corn flour
- 1 cup of grated cheese
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the corn flour, grated cheese, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then add the milk and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into small balls and flatten them slightly to form fritters.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
