Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups grated Gruyère cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, bring the water, butter, and salt to a boil. Add the flour and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool for 5 minutes. Then, add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the grated Gruyère cheese.
  5. Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes or until the cheese puffs are golden brown and puffed.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
