Chemeen Barthad (coorgi Style Prawn Fry)
Chemeen Barthad is a delicious Coorgi style prawn fry that is packed with flavors and spices. This dish is a popular part of Kodava cuisine and is perfect for seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- Few curry leaves
- Coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Keep aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Add the marinated prawns and curry leaves. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the prawns are cooked through.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
