Chemmeen Masala (sweet And Sour Prawn Masala)

Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 2 tablespoons jaggery or brown sugar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chili, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the tamarind paste, jaggery or brown sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the prawns and cook for 5-7 minutes or until they are cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
