Chettinad Chicken 65 (Kozhi 65)
Kozhi 65, also known as Chettinad Chicken 65, is a popular dish from the Chettinad cuisine of Tamil Nadu, India. It is a spicy and flavorful fried chicken dish that is perfect as an appetizer or a side dish.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt to make a marinade.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Heat oil in a deep pan for frying. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken pieces and fry until they are golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels and set aside.
- In a separate pan, heat 2 tbsp of oil and add curry leaves, green chilies, and sliced onion. Sauté until the onions are golden brown.
- Add the fried chicken pieces to the pan and toss well to coat with the onion and chili mixture.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
