Chettinadu Kozhi (creamy Chettinad Chicken)
Chettinadu Kozhi, also known as Creamy Chettinad Chicken, is a popular dish in Malaysian Indian cuisine. This rich and flavorful chicken curry is made with a blend of aromatic spices and creamy coconut milk, creating a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp Chettinad masala powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- Few curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the Chettinad masala powder and turmeric powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are well coated with the masala.
- Pour in the tomato puree and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add coconut milk, salt, and water. Cover and cook until the chicken is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
