Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp Chettinad masala powder
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat coconut oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  4. Add the Chettinad masala powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add the chicken pieces and coat them with the masala. Cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Add the grated coconut and curry leaves. Cook for another 10-15 minutes until the chicken is tender and the masala thickens.
  7. Chettinadu Kozhi Varuval is ready to be served hot with steamed rice or parotta.
