Chhurpi Momos (yak Cheese Stuffed Dumplings)
Chhurpi Momos are traditional dumplings from Sikkimese cuisine, filled with a delicious yak cheese stuffing. These momos are a popular snack and are often served with a spicy dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup grated yak cheese
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and water to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the grated yak cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, vegetable oil, and salt. Mix well to form the stuffing.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of the yak cheese stuffing in the center of each circle and fold the edges to form a momo.
- Steam the momos for 10-12 minutes until the dough is cooked and the filling is hot.
- Serve the Chhurpi Momos hot with a spicy dipping sauce.
