Chicken and Vegetable Stir-Fry (Sikin na Wara Wara Stir-Frai)
Sikin na Wara Wara Stir-Frai, also known as Chicken and Vegetable Stir-Fry, is a popular dish in Papua New Guinean cuisine. This flavorful stir-fry is a quick and easy meal that is packed with fresh vegetables and tender chicken, making it a perfect option for a healthy and delicious dinner.
Ingredients
- 500g boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 bell peppers, sliced
- 1 cup snow peas
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the sliced chicken, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until cooked through. Remove the chicken from the wok and set aside.
- Heat the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil in the same wok. Add the onion, bell peppers, snow peas, and broccoli. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the wok and stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Return the cooked chicken to the wok and toss everything together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and serve the Sikin na Wara Wara Stir-Frai hot with steamed rice.
