Chicken Cafreal Biryani
Chicken Cafreal Biryani is a delicious fusion dish that combines the flavors of Goan Catholic Cuisine with the aromatic spices of biryani. This dish is a perfect blend of Goan and Indian culinary traditions, creating a unique and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 bunch coriander leaves
- 1 bunch mint leaves
- 4-5 green chilies
- 1-inch ginger
- 8-10 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1-inch cinnamon stick
- 4-5 cloves
- 4-5 green cardamom pods
- 1 black cardamom pod
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 4 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken with yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Grind coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, ginger, and garlic to a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a large pot and add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cinnamon, cloves, green cardamom, and black cardamom. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add the ground paste and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is tender.
- In a separate pot, cook the basmati rice with garam masala and salt.
- Layer the cooked chicken and rice in a serving dish.
- Garnish with fried onions and serve hot.
