Chicken Cafreal Biryani

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 bunch coriander leaves
  • 1 bunch mint leaves
  • 4-5 green chilies
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 8-10 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods
  • 1 black cardamom pod
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken with yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Let it sit for 30 minutes.
  2. Grind coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, ginger, and garlic to a smooth paste.
  3. Heat oil in a large pot and add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cinnamon, cloves, green cardamom, and black cardamom. Sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground paste and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is tender.
  6. In a separate pot, cook the basmati rice with garam masala and salt.
  7. Layer the cooked chicken and rice in a serving dish.
  8. Garnish with fried onions and serve hot.
