Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup fresh coriander leaves
  • 6-8 green chilies
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 8-10 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 cup coconut milk

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine coriander leaves, green chilies, ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, black peppercorns, turmeric powder, garam masala, grated coconut, vinegar, and salt. Blend into a smooth paste.
  2. Marinate the chicken pieces with the green masala paste and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.
  4. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook until they turn golden brown.
  5. Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  6. Pour in the coconut milk, cover the pan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the flavors have melded together.
