Chicken Cooked With Parboiled Rice (chilka Chicken)

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup parboiled rice
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the parboiled rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
  4. Add the chicken pieces, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the chicken is browned.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  6. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the chicken mixture. Stir well.
  7. Add 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and cook until the rice and chicken are fully cooked.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
