Chicken Cooked With Parboiled Rice (chilka Chicken)
This traditional Jharkhandi recipe for Chicken cooked with Parboiled Rice, also known as Chilka Chicken, is a flavorful and hearty dish that is perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup parboiled rice
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Wash the parboiled rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the chicken is browned.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the chicken mixture. Stir well.
- Add 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and cook until the rice and chicken are fully cooked.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
