Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Let it sit for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a handi or deep pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  5. Add the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is tender and the masala is well blended.
  6. Add garam masala, green chilies, and fresh cream. Simmer for a few minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
