Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger and garlic, and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Whisk the yogurt and add it to the curry. Cook for another 10-15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
