Chicken Korma (spicy Chicken Korma)
Chicken Korma is a delicious and aromatic dish from Indian cuisine. It is a creamy and mildly spicy chicken curry that is perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup cashew nuts
- 1/4 cup desiccated coconut
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a blender, combine yogurt, onions, garlic, ginger, cashew nuts, desiccated coconut, and green chilies. Blend into a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
- Pour the blended paste into the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the chicken pieces, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken with the spice mixture.
- Cover the pot and cook the chicken korma for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
