Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts
  • 1/4 cup desiccated coconut
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine yogurt, onions, garlic, ginger, cashew nuts, desiccated coconut, and green chilies. Blend into a smooth paste.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  3. Pour the blended paste into the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the chicken pieces, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken with the spice mixture.
  5. Cover the pot and cook the chicken korma for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
