Chicken Paprikash (Курица по-паприке)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of paprika.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and brown them on all sides. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add the chopped onions and cook until they are soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Stir in the remaining tablespoon of paprika, then pour in the chicken broth and return the chicken pieces to the pot. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover and cook for 45 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  5. Stir in the sour cream and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
  6. Serve the chicken paprikash hot, accompanied by your choice of side dishes.
