Chicken Pulao (goan Style Chicken Biryani)
Chicken Pulao is a flavorful and aromatic rice dish that is a popular part of Goan cuisine. This Goan Style Chicken Biryani is a delicious one-pot meal that is perfect for a family dinner or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
Instructions
- Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, heat ghee and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Stir in the tomatoes, yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the soaked rice and mix well with the chicken and spices.
- Pour in the chicken broth, add salt, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
