Chicken Soup (zeamă De Pui)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the chicken, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, bay leaf, and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 45-60 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  3. Remove the chicken pieces from the pot and shred the meat using two forks. Discard the bones and return the shredded chicken to the pot.
  4. Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Serve the chicken soup hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
