Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, black pepper, ginger, and garlic. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Stir in the garam masala and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and cooked chicken. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
- Season with salt to taste. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
