Ingredients
- 2 cups chickpeas, soaked overnight
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur)
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Pressure cook the soaked chickpeas with salt until soft.
- Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, and dried mango powder. Cook until the oil separates.
- Add the cooked chickpeas and simmer for 10 minutes.
- For the fried bread (bhature), mix all-purpose flour, baking powder, and yogurt to form a smooth dough. Let it rest for 2 hours.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into circles. Deep fry in hot oil until puffed and golden brown.
- Serve the chickpea curry with the fried bread.
