Chili Fritters Chaat, also known as Spicy Mirchi Bajji Chat, is a popular street food from Uttara Karnataka Cuisine. This dish is a perfect blend of spicy, tangy, and savory flavors, making it a delightful snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 6 large green chilies
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 cup tamarind chutney
- 1/4 cup green chutney
- 1/4 cup sev (crispy chickpea noodles)
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
Instructions
- Slit the green chilies lengthwise, remove the seeds, and keep them aside.
- In a bowl, mix gram flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, baking soda, and salt. Add water to make a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a deep pan. Dip the green chilies in the batter and deep fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried chilies and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
- Arrange the fried chilies on a serving plate. Top them with chopped onions, tomatoes, tamarind chutney, green chutney, sev, and coriander leaves.
- Sprinkle some chaat masala for extra flavor.
