Ingredients
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 250ml warm milk
- 7g active dry yeast
- 50g granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 50g unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 100g granulated sugar (for coating)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal parts and roll each into a long rope. Wrap the dough around wooden cylinders, pressing gently to seal the ends.
- Roll the dough in granulated sugar and place it on a stovetop grill, rotating it frequently until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the Kürtőskalács Öröm from the cylinder and roll it in your choice of toppings such as cinnamon sugar, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut.
