Chinese Sticky Rice
Chinese sticky rice, also known as lo mai fan, is a traditional Chinese dish made with glutinous rice, Chinese sausage, shiitake mushrooms, and other delicious ingredients. This savory and flavorful dish is perfect for a hearty meal or as part of a dim sum spread.
Ingredients
- 2 cups glutinous rice
- 4 Chinese sausages, sliced
- 8 dried shiitake mushrooms, soaked and sliced
- 1/4 cup dried shrimp, soaked
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Rinse the glutinous rice until the water runs clear, then soak for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Heat a wok or large skillet over medium heat and cook the Chinese sausages until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same wok, add the soaked dried shrimp and shiitake mushrooms. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the soaked glutinous rice to the wok and stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper.
- Transfer the rice mixture to a steamer and pour in the chicken broth. Steam for 30-40 minutes until the rice is cooked through.
- Once the rice is cooked, stir in the cooked Chinese sausages and green onions.
- Serve the Chinese sticky rice hot and enjoy!
