Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 3/4 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil (about 10 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until the butter is melted.
  5. Pour the pudding into individual serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until chilled and set.
