Chole Bhature Burritos
Chole Bhature Burritos are a fusion of Indian and Mexican cuisines, combining the flavors of spicy chickpea curry and fluffy fried bread with the convenience of a handheld burrito. This recipe puts a fun twist on the traditional Indian dish, making it perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups chickpeas, cooked
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 4 bhature (fried bread)
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Then, add pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Add cooked chickpeas and 1 cup of water. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until the curry thickens.
- To assemble the burritos, place a bhature on a plate. Spoon some chickpea curry onto the center, then top with shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, and a dollop of yogurt.
- Roll the bhature to form a burrito and serve hot.
