Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 4 pita pockets
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili. Sauté for a few minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
  4. Add the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes.
  5. Now, add the cooked chickpeas and garam masala. Mix everything together and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Warm the pita pockets and stuff them with the spicy chole filling.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
