Chorreadas Costarricenses (costa Rican Chorreadas)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh corn kernels
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine the fresh corn kernels, flour, milk, egg, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the chopped onion and red bell pepper.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Pour 1/4 cup of the batter for each chorreada onto the skillet.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  6. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve the chorreadas warm.
