Chorreadas Costarricenses (costa Rican Chorreadas)
Chorreadas Costarricenses, or Costa Rican Chorreadas, are delicious corn pancakes that are a popular dish in Costa Rican cuisine. They are perfect for breakfast or as a side dish for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh corn kernels
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the fresh corn kernels, flour, milk, egg, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the chopped onion and red bell pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Pour 1/4 cup of the batter for each chorreada onto the skillet.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- Serve the chorreadas warm.
