Chow Chow Bath (mysore Chutney Sandwich)
Chow Chow Bath, also known as Mysore Chutney Sandwich, is a popular dish from Karnataka Cuisine. It is a delicious combination of spicy and sweet flavors, making it a perfect breakfast or snack option.
Ingredients
- 1 cup semolina
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 1 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- 8 slices of bread
- Butter for toasting
Instructions
- In a pan, dry roast the semolina until it turns golden brown. Set aside.
- In the same pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and green chilies. Saute until onions turn translucent.
- Add grated coconut, roasted peanuts, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the roasted semolina and mix. Then, add yogurt and combine everything. Cook for 2-3 minutes. The spicy semolina mixture is ready.
- Toast the bread slices with butter until golden brown.
- Spread the spicy semolina mixture on one slice and cover it with another slice to make a sandwich.
- Chow Chow Bath (Mysore Chutney Sandwich) is ready to be served hot.
