Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 8 slices of bread
  • Butter for toasting

Instructions

  1. In a pan, dry roast the semolina until it turns golden brown. Set aside.
  2. In the same pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and green chilies. Saute until onions turn translucent.
  3. Add grated coconut, roasted peanuts, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add the roasted semolina and mix. Then, add yogurt and combine everything. Cook for 2-3 minutes. The spicy semolina mixture is ready.
  5. Toast the bread slices with butter until golden brown.
  6. Spread the spicy semolina mixture on one slice and cover it with another slice to make a sandwich.
  7. Chow Chow Bath (Mysore Chutney Sandwich) is ready to be served hot.
