Chuanr (spiced Manchu Chicken Skewers)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp Sichuan peppercorns, crushed
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 12 bamboo skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, vegetable oil, Sichuan peppercorns, cumin powder, chili powder, garlic, and ginger to make the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the soaked bamboo skewers, alternating with green onions and cilantro.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the chicken skewers for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. Remove from the grill and serve hot.
