Citrusy Chicken Curry (shatkora Murgh)
This Citrusy Chicken Curry, also known as Shatkora Murgh, is a traditional dish from Sylheti Cuisine that combines the tangy flavor of shatkora (a citrus fruit) with aromatic spices and tender chicken.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 shatkora (citrus fruit), sliced
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, sliced
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and red chili powder. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions, garlic, ginger, and green chilies until golden brown.
- Add the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is browned.
- Add the sliced shatkora and salt, then cover and cook until the chicken is tender and the shatkora is softened.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
