Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 shatkora (citrus fruit), sliced
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4-5 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is slightly browned.
  5. Add the sliced shatkora and mix well.
  6. Pour in enough water to cover the chicken and shatkora. Cover the pot and let it simmer for 30-35 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the shatkora is tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
