Coastal Crab Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh crab meat
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red bell pepper, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, beaten egg, Dijon mustard, green onions, red bell pepper, parsley, Old Bay seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Form the mixture into 8 crab cakes, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Carefully place the crab cakes in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  6. Serve the crab cakes hot, with your choice of dipping sauce or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
