Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the grated ginger and minced garlic, and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Cook until the oil separates.
  4. Add the prawns and green chilies, and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the coconut milk and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
