Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger and garlic paste, and cook for a minute.
  3. Add the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Add the prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the coconut milk and green chilies. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the prawns are cooked through and the curry thickens.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
