Coconut Rice With Tuna Curry (nasi Dagang)
Nasi Dagang is a traditional Malaysian dish consisting of coconut rice served with tuna curry. This flavorful and aromatic dish is a popular breakfast choice in the northeastern states of Malaysia.
Ingredients
- 2 cups jasmine rice
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 2 tablespoons fish curry powder
- 400g canned tuna, drained
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 stalks lemongrass, smashed
- 4 kaffir lime leaves
- 1/2 cup coconut cream
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a pot, combine jasmine rice, coconut milk, water, salt, and sugar. Cook the rice according to your rice cooker or stovetop method.
- In a separate pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Sauté the sliced onion, minced garlic, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves until fragrant.
- Add fish curry powder and tamarind paste to the pan, and stir until the spices are aromatic.
- Add the drained tuna to the pan and cook for 5 minutes, stirring gently to coat the tuna with the spices.
- Pour in the coconut cream and simmer for another 5 minutes until the curry thickens.
- Serve the coconut rice with the tuna curry on top. Enjoy!
