Coliflor Estilo General Tso Mexicano (mexican Style General Tso's Cauliflower)
This recipe puts a Mexican twist on the classic General Tso's Cauliflower, infusing it with Latin American flavors for a unique and delicious dish.
Ingredients
- 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 cup of cornstarch
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup of soy sauce
- 1/4 cup of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, and chili powder.
- Dredge the cauliflower florets in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Working in batches, fry the cauliflower until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, tomato paste, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer.
- Add the fried cauliflower to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
