Commander's Clam Bake
Commander's Clam Bake is a traditional dish from the Commander Islands, featuring fresh clams and a variety of flavorful ingredients.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs fresh clams
- 1 lb baby potatoes
- 4 ears of corn, husked and halved
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 lemon, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Scrub the clams under cold water and place them in a large bowl of cold water to soak for 20 minutes.
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the potatoes. Cook for 10 minutes.
- Add the corn, sausage, onion, and garlic to the pot with the potatoes and continue to boil for 5 minutes.
- Drain the clams and add them to the pot. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the clams have opened.
- Drain the contents of the pot and transfer to a large serving platter.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the clams, potatoes, corn, and sausage. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and arrange the lemon slices on top.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
